Of Sea, Sails and Slumber
The book is called "Of Sea, Sails and Slumber' - a nautical journal of Fiddy Bobick." It dates back to the end of the Age of Turmoil. Inside it is filled with page after page of nautical notes seemingly based off of prophetic dreams Fiddy Bobick had in his later years. One page in particular catches your eyes.
My mighty ship sailed northward breaking through the ice. Ships to the left and right were colliding with the icy fangs floating amidst the tides. The sea was violent and commanding. I could barely keep hold of the wheel. The struggle I endured was so great I could feel pain within my whole body when I awoke. I never would have survived had I taken the course of the other ships. Nor would I have survived if that odd gnome contraption was not present. But what gnome contraption is not considered odd?
Just like the visions of the shipping lane haunted me so to did the gnomish device. I went to my good friend Tinmizer in Ak'Anon to see if he could translate my dreams of the device into a reality. I was glad he had returned with greater knowledge then when he left on his quest for his clockwork masterpiece. Only he could have created it. We tested the device off the coast of Everfrost and just as in my dreams it had an effect on the inhospitable frost. But there was more than bone chilling frost in my dreams.
In my dreams the chilly mist that immersed the ship in ice also gave birth to beasts formed of ice. Skeletons formed of ice appeared on all sides whenever the device ceased to run. Even for a dream I feared for my life. Seeing the device of my dream become a reality makes me wonder what else will come to pass. I shall use these notes and sketches in this journal to guide my course through a sea of ice that has yet to exist and I can only hope it does not and that my dream was only a reoccurring nightmare of Halasian doom.
The nightmares of impending doom and loss grow heavy on me.
Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Disruptor may be a necessity in heroic endeavors of future possibilities. I will journey to the Drafling. Only he can have an answer for me and I will emplore him to hide the device. I do not feel it is safe even within the chambers of Rivergate. Brell keep us hidden from doom.
